Quality education and unique programming is just as important to us as it is to you. We provide a safe, secure atmosphere for our students, allowing them to experience and enjoy all Laura's Barn has to offer.
BENEFITS OF OUR S.T.E.A.M. PROGRAM
Education and teaching tools are always evolving, so it is up to school leaders to decipher what is simply a trend, and what is true innovation. Over the past several years S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) programs have boomed, reaching every level of the education field, from preschool to college. Even more recently, S.T.E.A.M. programs have grown due to the ways in which the Arts have shown to support these harder sciences: Structure, creativity, multi-media, invention and expression.
Our L.B.C.C.C school has been at the forefront of this new era, integrating S.T.E.A.M. elements into instruction before it was even “a thing.” Our Digital Tech Lab encourages children to explore the world of digital media while also developing digital literacy and fluency (understanding and manipulating digital tools). Our S.T.E.A.M. Laboratory provides opportunities to create, problem solve, and explore abstract concepts. Our Art program allows children to use their senses to create and express their ideas, while building confidence in their ability to be original and independent. These programs are how we unlock the potential of every child to prepare them for the future.
Parents play an important role in supporting this foundation for higher learning for tomorrow. You may not even know it, but you are introducing concepts of S.T.E.A.M. every day at home! If you take time to explain what is happening in their world, you inspire curiosity that lends to their intrinsic drive to learn. Here are a few tips on how to spark that flame of curiosity at home:
Freeze some of their favorite small toys in a bowl of water (SCIENCE)
Make a playdough circuit breaker. (Technology)
Stacking Blocks to create a tall building. (Engineering)
Explore how primary colors can blend for a secondary color. (Art)
Count whole grapes , then count again after cutting them in half. (Math)
Studies show that preschoolers’ minds are stimulated in 30-minute intervals. Because of this, we’ve designed our classroom rotation program to fit your child’s natural inclinations.
Your child will start off in his/her primary classroom with their primary teacher
Rotations to enrichment classes will take place throughout the day
Many of our enrichment programs have course-specific teachers who bring their energy and expertise to the subject.
Our S.T.E.M. Lab allows your child to participate in
scientific experiments, building, designing, coding,
and robotics – all of which help develop spatial awareness and reasoning.
OUR ART STUDIO
Our Art Studio program helps your child develop their “right brain” through artistic expression, allowing them to create, wonder, and explore their creative boundaries without limitations.
SECOND LANGUAGE LIBRARY
In our Second Language Library enrichment program, we focus on introducing your child to the Spanish language as well as culture, vocabulary, and music, through interactive activities.
OUR COMPUTER LAB
Our computer lab is designed to teach preschoolers how to comfortably navigate through a computer, smartboard, tablet, and other devices and develop his/her creative and mathematical skills.
Our L.B.3.C. enrichment program helps your child develop confidence and critical thinking skills through dramatic play in our L.B.3.C. studio, where your student can be a rising star.
Physical development is another crucial part of your child’s development. A balance of stationary learning and physical learning should be the foundation for any educational program.
Singing, dancing, and playing will also help fuel your child’s already blossoming imagination. By exploring different types of instruments and music, your child will build confidence and strengthen his/her memory.
CREATIVE MOVEMENT STUDIO
The Creative Movement Studio plays an important role in the 120 minute-per-day recommendation of active play while also allowing them to stretch both his/her body and brain.
